Hakubai means “white plum blossom.”

It is the name of the first Buddhist temple in China

It is the name Kobun gave to me.

In Japan, the plum tree blooms in the winter snow.

Its flower has five petals.

Each petal represents one of the five Buddha families,

Five colors,

Five notes in the pentatonic scale.

The plum flower is the udambara flower

She represents dawn,

Awakening.
